Product Details

Our ExactShift chassis-mounted short shifter for the 1965-1986 Porsche 911 brings a new level of performance to your 901 / 915 / 930 gearbox. The OEM shifter lacks adjustability and precision; ours solves those design flaws so you can fine-tune the feel to your driving style, on or off the track.

  • CNC-machined aircraft-grade billet aluminum
  • 4 positions of shift-lever adjustment for quick, precise shifts
  • Extended shift lever positions the knob closer to the steering wheel
  • Adjustable lateral movement of the shift lever in neutral
  • Return-to-center shift-lever action
  • Rubber bellows included to seal the shifter opening for an OEM+ look
  • Reverse lockout via internally routed cable
  • Mounts directly to the transmission tunnel with supplied hardware
  • Retains the OEM shift coupler and other components for a bolt-in install
  • Available in black or silver anodized finish
  • Aluminum shift knob included (compatible with all current Rennline shift knobs); lever is threaded M12 x 1.5 for other knob options

Notes

  • Transmission Code 901: the reverse-lockout function will not work due to the dogleg shift pattern.
  • Transmission Code 930: the 930 transmission has a built-in reverse lockout, so our unit’s lockout must be removed before installation.
  • Choose your anodized color and shift-knob color using the options above.
  • Installation Difficulty: 3 out of 5.

FAQ

Q: Will the reverse lockout work on my car?

A: On 901 (dogleg) gearboxes the lockout will not function; on 930 gearboxes remove our lockout since the 930 has its own. On 915 it works normally.

Q: Can I use a different shift knob?

A: Yes — the lever is threaded M12 x 1.5 and is compatible with all current Rennline shift knobs.

    EXACTSHIFT Review

Posted by Cyril Dehais on Mar 3rd 2025

I recently purchased this upgraded shifter for my Porsche 911, and I’m truly impressed by the build quality. The part is CNC-machined from aluminum with outstanding precision, and it feels excellent in hand. Designed to fix the common shifting issues found in original Porsche shifters, it appears to be a well-thought-out improvement. Since my car is currently under restoration, I haven’t installed it yet, so I can’t comment on its performance in real-world conditions. However, the craftsmanship and design are undeniably top-notch. I’ll update my review once it’s installed, but so far, it’s a flawless piece in terms of finish and engineering! ? Exact short shifter for the 911 3.2

Posted by John on Feb 17th 2025

Beautifully made shifter with good installation instructions. It does transform the 915’s shifting performance, tighter, much shorter and more precise. It’s the 915 transmission so it’s not a fast shift. Deliberate and thoughtful, and this short shifter, for all of its improvements, doesn’t change some of the shortcomings of the 915 (especially mine, as I am getting closer to a rebuild). Finally, take your time on the install and adjustments. Coupler, reverse lockout, carrier bushing, you name it. Sweat the details as it really helps.
