Notes

  • Engines with manual (non-oil-fed) chain tensioners: 2x 16mm freeze plugs are required (Audi OEM# N0119034). These plug the oil feed ports that are only used with hydraulic tensioners.
  • Upper threaded sensor/plug ports: Each cover has a threaded hole near the top. On some models, one side had a factory temperature switch and the other had a sealing plug. Some models may not have used either. If your original covers do not have these parts to transfer over, you will need to purchase the following to seal these ports:

    Qty 2x Sealing Ring #8: 900-123-007-30 — Available at our partner’s site →
    Qty 2x Threaded Plug #9: N-016-155-4 — Available at our partner’s site →
  • Sold as a pair (left and right covers).
  • Compatible with all OEM style gaskets and hardware.

FAQ

Q: What is the threaded hole near the top of each cover?

A: These covers are machined to be universal across all supported models. Some Porsche engines used a crankcase temperature switch in one of these ports (such as 930 Turbo and some SC models), while the opposite side used a sealing plug. If your original covers had a temperature switch or sealing plug, simply transfer them to the new covers. If your original covers did not have these (common on 3.2 Carrera models), you will need to purchase a sealing plug (N-016-155-4) and sealing ring (900-123-007-30) for each side, qty 2 of each.

Q: My engine has manual (mechanical) chain tensioners. Can I still use these covers?

A: Yes. The covers come with 15mm freeze plugs pre-installed for the tensioner mounting area. However, you will also need 2x 16mm freeze plugs (Audi OEM# N0119034) to seal the hydraulic oil feed ports that your engine does not use.

Q: Do I need new gaskets?

A: We recommend replacing your timing chain cover gaskets any time the covers are removed. These covers accept all OEM style gaskets and hardware.
